ACTIVATE Chicago transforms alleys into event spaces in order to promote collaborative efforts between musicians, artists, and anyone interested in having a great time. After attending yesterday’s event, I’d like to share what I learned!
Have a Backup Plan
Yesterday’s weather was none too cooperative, so the usual outdoor dynamic wasn’t going to work. Organizers moved to their indoor location at Block 37, and things went off without a hitch.
The lesson here is expect the best, and prepare for the worst. If they didn’t have a backup plan, things wouldn’t have gone so smoothly.
Bring Your Friends
Parties are always better when you bring a posse.
The people who seemed to be having the best time were there with their friends sharing the experience, and that’s a pretty big lesson. Experiences are best when shared with people you care about!
If you like music, art, design, and other creative expressions, these are your people! Don’t be shy about connecting with other folks who are just as enthusiastic about the same things you’re passionate about.
It can be difficult to make an introduction with the loud music and small cliques, but humans are social creatures. Go say hi!
ACTIVATE is a great experience where you can interact with other creatives, brand representatives who have some kick-ass offerings (I’m looking at you WeWork), and if you register early your first drink is FREE! What else do you need for a good time?
The folks at ACTIVATE go out of their way to ensure a welcoming environment, so make the most of the next opportunity.
